Nature Speaks to Us

An invitation to slow down, breathe, and absorb the calm of the coffee forest.

Curated programs

Immersive Wellness Journey

While we love hosting independent travelers for a solo stay, our Curated Programs are the heart of the Coffee Terra experience. These are pre-designed, full service escapes where every detail is handled, allowing you to focus entirely on your inner growth and the beauty of the surroundings.

When you join a Curated Program, you aren’t just booking a room; you are joining a small, intentional community.

What’s Included

Solo stays

Sometimes the most powerful retreat is the one you create for yourself.

For those who are not joining one of our curated yoga-wellbeing programs, Coffee Terra welcomes individual travelers seeking quiet, beauty, and reconnection with nature.

Our “Solo Stay” option allows you to book:

Whether you are looking for creative space, deep rest, personal reflection, or simply time away from the noise of daily life, you are welcome to shape your own experience at your own rhythm — for a few nights or a longer stay.

Here, there is no schedule unless you choose one.

Just space, silence, and the gentle rhythm of the land.

Making the Most of Your Stay

To help you pack and prepare, here is a quick overview of the “extra” ways you can customize your time, whether you are on a Curated Program or a Solo Stay:

Rooted in Purpose

Coffee Terra wasn’t born from a business plan—it was born from a shared commitment to a community.

Our founders, Crista and Angi, met in the dust of a construction site on Finca Catalán in San Martin Jilotepeque. Crista was supervising the opening of a temporary school for the children of migrant coffee pickers, and Angi, whose family owns the farm, was the heart on the ground.

At the time, the school was a simple but vital necessity. Taking children into the fields during the harvest poses significant challenges, so the school provided a safe, structured environment where they could learn and be nourished while their parents worked. Seeing the impact on these families, Angi and her husband eventually made the decision to keep the school open year-round, funding every expense themselves.

The Connection

Working side-by-side to build that school, we realized we shared more than just a project; we shared a “why.” Angi, born and raised in Austria, with a deep passion for yoga and mindfulness, and Crista, a travel enthusiast dedicated to showcasing the soul of Guatemala, saw a way to merge their worlds.

We wanted to create a space that didn’t just offer a place to stay, but a place to be. We realized that true wellness isn’t possible if the community around you isn’t also thriving.

Our Mission

Coffee Terra is the evolution of that shared history. Our purpose is two-fold:

Today, the school remains a permanent pillar of Finca Catalan and Coffee Terra, providing a completely free education for the children of our workers. When you stay with us, your journey toward inner peace directly supports the future of the children of San Martin Jilotepeque.

“We met through the work of giving back. We created Coffee Terra to make sure that work never stops.”Crista & Angi

TESTIMONIALS

A space that invited me to breathe again.

I found a sense of calm I hadn’t felt in years.

The energy of the farm embraces you—it’s impossible not to unwind.

Explore Guatemala

San Martin Jilotepeque is a peaceful sanctuary, and its location in Chimaltenango makes it a perfect “mid-way” stop for exploring the best of the Guatemalan Highlands. Here is how you can round out your trip before or after your stay with us:

Antigua Guatemala (The Colonial Heart)

Distance: ~1 to 1.5 hours away.

Why go: Most travelers use the UNESCO World Heritage city of Antigua as their “base.” It’s the perfect place to start your trip with cobblestone streets and volcanic views before heading to the farm for deep rest, or to end your trip with some world-class dining and shopping.

Iximché & Tecpán (History & Gastronomy)

Distance: ~1 hour away.

Why go: Stop in Tecpán for a traditional Guatemalan breakfast (famous throughout the country). Afterward, visit Iximché, the first capital of Guatemala. It is an active ceremonial site where you can often witness Mayan spiritual rituals taking place among the ancient pyramids.

Lake Atitlán (A Natural Wonder)

Distance: ~2.5 to 3 hours away.

Why go: If you are on a longer wellness journey, heading from the coffee forests of Chimaltenango to the volcanic shores of Lake Atitlán is a natural progression. The energy of the lake complements the grounding peace of Coffee Terra perfectly.

Our Impact

At CoffeeTerra, wellbeing is not only personal — it is something we share.

Your stay directly supports the Catalan Educational Center (CEC) — a community project founded by the Hammond family at Finca Catalan that provides free education, meals, and essential support to the children of farm workers and families in the surrounding region.

CEC offers:

By staying with us, you become part of this cycle of care.

Your visit contributes to sustainable development, equal opportunity, and long-term impact in one of Guatemala’s rural communities.

We believe true wellbeing is shared.
